referencing The Green House EP, 12", EP, SB016

A little bit of everything "house" with this great record. "Tortured Soul" is the big winner here, with punchy drums, and steady, repetitive piano stabs, dissonant jazz chords, and a worked-in, old, piano jazz sample that sounds like it was from the 40s. The middle section features some pretty chords that work so well. Top-shelf tune, I still play it when I can. "Don't" is just as good and a tad deeper. "Don't" is serious "head" music if you like it deep but with a techy/loopy edge. "Fleur" and "The Rain" are good as well. Easy 5 stars.
